Founded by Samih Darwazah over 40 years ago in Jordan, Hikma's purpose is to provide affordable, quality medicines to people who need them. Building on solid foundations, we continuously innovate and find practical solutions to transform the lives of millions.
We expanded our operations beyond the Middle East in the late 1980s by acquiring land in Portugal for a sterile factory producing injectable pharmaceutical products. This marked an important turning point for the company and our first step into a new region. Today, we have over 900 employees and three factories in Portugal dedicated to producing injectable medicines.
