Why this job is important
As a Country Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial operations for our country office. Your expertise will ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, and you will provide strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and profitability. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management, regulatory compliance, and the ability to work effectively with various internal and external partners.
What you’ll be doing
* Financial Reporting:Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with local GAAP and IFRS.
* Compliance:Ensure compliance with all local tax, legal, and regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation and reporting.
* Internal Controls:Implement robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
* Stakeholder Collaboration:Work closely with department heads, regional finance teams, and external auditors to align and support business objectives.
* External Compliance:Coordinate statutory audits, ensuring they run smoothly and on time.
* Tax Requirements:Fulfil all tax requirements and ensure local compliance.
* Main Point of Contact:Act as the main point of contact for our consultants and stakeholders, including the Country MD, Country CFO, and country board.
* Balance Sheet and P&L Sign Off:Review and sign off on balance sheets and P&L statements in collaboration with BPO and R2D.
* Query Response:Address all queries related to accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and other financial matters.
The skills & experience needed as Country Controller
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
* Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred.
* Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably within a multinational corporation.
* Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards.
* Proven experience in managing compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with Power BI and other data visualisation tools.
* Experience with international accounting standards and practices.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
