Technical Designer, Knits/Accessories
What will you do?
A day in the life of a Technical Designer for Knits and Accessories at Dickies looks a little like this.
The Technical Designer is a member of the Global team and drives the fit strategy and fit standards, leads fit sessions and fit garments with the product team while providing fit recommendations and solutions to issues related to Knits and Accessories. The Technical Designer will provide direction to a wider team, as well as technical recommendations to design to create consistency of fit and construction and to help achieve design concepts and category initiatives. In addition, you'll create and communicate pattern revisions, incorporating styling and fit changes.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
* Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining corporate standards.
* Provide technical expertise during design pass off, advising on construction techniques and finishing details with a demonstrated ability to create profitable designs.
* Lead fit session on live model or mannequin, work with Designer to achieve aesthetic, communicate fit & balance corrections to participants.
* Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction to factories for each style in the PLM system.
* Evaluate garment to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent.
* Identify potential production and quality issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent.
* Ensure size and fit consistency within product category.
* Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met.
* Work closely with cross functional teams to identify & proactively engage when issues arise with recommendations for viable options/solutions & escalate issues to Manager if needed.
* Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings.
What do you need to succeed?

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
* Must have Extensive knowledge in tops and outerwear patternmaking, including – grading, construction and fit for multiple or complex product.
* Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
* Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem solve.
* Strong computer skills – preferred programs: computer spec writing programs; PLM; PDM; Adobe Illustrator; Lotus Notes; MS Outlook and MS Office Suite.
* 3-5 years of experience in the Apparel Industry including patternmaking and construction experience with full knowledge of total production timeline.
* AA/BFA or Certification in Patternmaking, Apparel Manufacturing, Design, or equivalent.

Hiring Range: $82,944.00 USD - $103,680.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
