Project Director – SolarLocation: Portugal Employment Type: Full‐time Reporting to: Country Director / Regional Head of Delivery Start Date: July/Aug 2026 Rate: Per day, NegotiableRole Purpose The Project Director is responsible for strategic leadership and full accountability for a portfolio of utility‐scale solar PV projects in Portugal. The role ensures successful project delivery across development, construction and handover, maintaining high standards of commercial performance, safety, governance and stakeholder management.Key Responsibilities Portfolio & Strategic LeadershipProvide leadership across a portfolio of solar projects from late stage development to operations handoverDefine delivery strategies, execution plans and governance standardsEnsure projects meet financial, schedule, quality and safety objectives Team & Resource ManagementLead, mentor and develop Senior Project Managers and delivery teamsBuild a high performance, safety‐first delivery cultureEnsure effective resourcing, capability development and succession planning Commercial & Financial OversightOwn overall project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial performanceOversee EPC contracts, major supplier agreements and claims managementDrive value optimisation and effective commercial risk management Stakeholder & Executive EngagementAct as the senior escalation point for key internal and external stakeholdersEngage with regulators, grid authorities, municipalities and strategic partnersProvide clear reporting, insight and recommendations to senior leadership Risk, Compliance & GovernanceLead portfolio level risk identification, mitigation and decision makingEnsure compliance with internal governance, regulatory and ESG requirementsDrive continuous improvement across delivery models, systems and processesSkills & Experience EssentialExtensive experience delivering large scale renewable energy or infrastructure projectsProven track record managing multiple complex solar PV projectsStrong commercial, contractual and financial acumenExperience leading multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teamsAbility to operate confidently at executive, investor and board levelFluency in EnglishHold own eligibility to work, without restrictions and without needing a sponsorship in PortugalDesirableDegree in Engineering, Construction, or BusinessExperience in the Portuguese or wider Iberian renewable energy marketFamiliarity with investor led or IPP delivery modelsChartered status or professional accreditationAble to communicate in PortugueseThis is a fantastic opportunity; and if interested and meet the criteria set out above, please forward your details to me.
