The Head of Finance will play a critical role in structuring and strengthening the finance function, ensuring that accounting reflects the true economic reality of the business, that legal, tax and labour risks are properly identified and mitigated, and that the Portuguese operation is fully aligned with international group standards and governance frameworks .
We are supporting an international professional services group, operating across Europe, Asia and Latin America, in the recruitment of a Head of Finance - Portugal .
This role is created in the context of a recent acquisition and post-integration phase and carries a clear mandate: to ensure financial accuracy, transparency and robust control, while safeguarding the reputation of the business and building solid financial foundations to support sustainable growth.
Finance & Accounting
* Ensure high-quality, accurate and reliable accounting across all entities
* Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes
* Guarantee consistency and financial control across multiple legal entities and geographies
* Deliver clear, actionable financial reporting in line with group requirements
* Lead the implementation of the Group ERP (NetSuite) across all entities
* Prepare annual consolidated financial statements
Legal, Tax & Compliance
* Identify, manage and mitigate legal, tax and labour risks
* Ensure full compliance with Portuguese fiscal and regulatory obligations
* Act as a reference point for compliance, ethics, governance and internal policies
* Liaise with auditors, external advisors and regulatory authorities
Control & Reporting
* Strengthen and implement internal control frameworks and Cash Management
* Ensure financial information accurately reflects business performance and position
* Implement and comply with all group reporting standards
* Provide financial analysis and local insight to support the International CFO
Business Mindset
* Go beyond accounting and reporting; maintain a strong business and results orientation
* Support leadership with analysis on profitability, margins and performance
* Act as a trusted partner to the Managing Partner and local leadership team
* Contribute to strategic decision-making with financial rigour and sound judgement.
Profile
Technical Background
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Management
* Strong accounting expertise is essential
* Proven experience managing multiple legal entities and cross-border operations
* Solid knowledge of Portuguese accounting and tax standards
* Experience in M&A, post-acquisition integration or restructuring is highly valued
* Very Good level of English and Portuguese, Spanish is a plus
* High levels of integrity, accountability and attention to detail
* Ability to bring structure, discipline and clarity to complex environments
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Confident communicator with international stakeholders
* Hands‑on, business‑oriented mindset, without being overly operational
* Strong sensitivity to reputation, risk management and governance is fundamental.
