Summary
The Record to Report (R2R) Lead is a leadership position responsible for statutory and tax compliance for divisions in scope. This includes being the Certified Accountant and a point of contact in-country, responsible for statutory financial statements preparation, interacting with and involving internal and external stakeholders, and managing tax requirements. The role also involves supporting NOCC during month-end reporting.
This role is additionally responsible for reporting review/reconciliations, liaising with internal and external auditors, and ensuring Financial Controls and Compliance.
About The Role
Major accountabilities:
1. Lead the record to report process team in Portugal, cultivating and retaining talent.
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for statutory and tax matters, including tax inspections and internal audits.
3. Support and coordinate the month-end closing process, contract reviews, and service delivery with NOCC and local teams to ensure no disruptions.
4. Act as an interface for local stakeholders to NOCC teams.
5. Ensure the timely completion of local statutory requirements.
6. Oversee the preparation of YE Statutory Financial Statements and coordinate with External Auditors, involving internal and external stakeholders. Manage meetings to clarify differences between NAM and Stat YE positions. Ensure tax compliance (Direct, Indirect, Transfer Prices, DAC6, CbC report) and communicate with Tax Authorities as needed.
7. Promote fiscal awareness by sharing updates on fiscal changes impacting divisions.
8. Ensure adherence to NFCM, act as control owner, and coordinate remediation activities from reviews.
9. Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior finance colleagues, auditors, and FRA teams, ensuring timely communication of questions or issues.
10. Define, document, and ensure compliance with processes, procedures, and policies aligned with Novartis standards.
11. Maintain a strong control environment, follow up on audit issues, and implement corrective actions.
12. Lead initiatives to improve process efficiency, optimize operations, and achieve cost savings.

Education
- University degree in Business Administration / Finance
- Certified Accountant (required)
Experience
5+ years of work experience in a similar role.
Languages
- English: Advanced (written and spoken)
- Advanced in the local country language
