N10GLED is a start-up at the forefront of developing ultra-secure communication technologies powered by quantum innovations. Our mission is to revolutionize secure communications by building Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems for both space and ground segments.
The Role: We are looking for a Junior Network Engineer (R&D) to join our Research and Development team in advanced networking. This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a pioneering technological field.
Location: Pinhal Novo, Évora or Vendas Novas, Portugal (Hybrid in-person model).
Responsibilities
* Basic knowledge of or interest in network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and their application in experimental scenarios.
* Physical computer networks and hardware integration (switches, routers, firewalls, test equipment).
* Software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and emerging architectures.
* Network security and resilience, including encryption, VPNs, and protection against attacks.
* Operating systems and test environments (Linux and Windows), with a focus on simulation, automation, and experimentation.
* Analysis and monitoring tools (Wireshark, Nagios, Zabbix, or equivalents). Document IT architectures, software designs, and security compliance procedures.
* Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity regulations, cryptographic standards, and best practices.
* Collaborate with a team of Engineers to deliver secure, end-to-end integrated QKD+PQC systems.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
* Fundamental knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, firewalls).
* Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
* Software development skills in Python, C++ or C#, preferably in security or networking contexts.
* Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and an interest in learning about quantum-safe communications.
