Overview
3263 UI/UX Web Designer role at Contact One Communications, Inc. with responsibilities across the Academy Learning Environment (ALE) systems. Security clearance required: NATO SECRET.
Responsibilities
* User-Centered Design: Create designs based on user requirements and behavior, ensuring usability and accessibility.
* UX Research and Testing: Conduct user research and usability testing to analyze and predict user behavior, providing actionable insights.
* Design Standards: Develop and maintain style guides, design systems, and reusable patterns to ensure a consistent user experience across ALE systems.
* Interface Design and Implementation: Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups, and deliver integration-ready UI outputs (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for direct implementation by development teams.
* Implementable Deliverables: Translate design outputs into integration-ready artefacts (e.g., HTML/CSS templates, style sheets) to minimize rework by development teams for target systems such as Moodle or TMS.
* Graphic Design: Create original graphic assets to support the user experience.
* UI Testing: Test UI elements such as CTAs, banners, layouts, flows, and links for landing pages; identify and troubleshoot UX issues (responsiveness, accessibility, consistency).
* Continuous Improvement: Incorporate feedback, usage metrics, and usability findings into design iterations to improve user experience.
Deliverables & Systems
* UI/UX services across ALE systems: Moodle (LMS), Training Management System (TMS), Jira, Adaptive Learning Platform, Training Landing Zone (TLZ), and NCI Academy Catalogue.
* All deliverables are progressive, iterative, and prioritized by operational needs and sprint plans; deliverables include integration-ready artefacts for direct implementation or minimal adaptation by the Academy development team.
Sprint & Development Approach
* One-week sprints with focused activities: User Research Report, UI/UX Design Prototypes and Standards, Integration-Ready UI Components, UI Testing and Iteration Report, and Design Prototype for TMS.
* Design prototypes must include sufficient technical specifications to support direct implementation.
Skill, Knowledge & Experience
* Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Security Clearance: Valid clearance covering the contract duration.
* User-Centered Approach: Ability to influence requirements to improve UX.
* UI/UX Design Expertise: Proven experience in UI/UX for digital products/services.
* Multi-Platform Design: Web and mobile UX/UI familiarity.
* Moodle Customization: Ability to customize Moodle interface using HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
* JIRA Design and Customization: Experience in designing and customizing JIRA interfaces, workflows, dashboards.
* Technical Tools: Proficiency with Sketch, InVision, Visio, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), HTML, CSS (SCSS), and iOS/Android design principles; familiarity with design systems and component-based design.
* Deliverables: Ability to provide both design artefacts and integration-ready outputs.
* Collaboration: Strong English communication, able to work with developers, system owners, and stakeholders.
* Usability Testing: Experience in user research and testing with actionable design improvements.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Experience with NATO or NCI Agency environments.
* Agile methodology familiarity (e.g., sprint-based delivery).
* Advice on visual hierarchy and UX best practices for e-learning interfaces.
* Experience with training platforms (LMS, TMS, Adaptive Learning).
* Familiarity with cloud-based environments and enterprise UI/UX artefact integration.
Language Proficiency
* English level per NATO STANAG 6001: Listening 3, Speaking 2, Reading 3, Writing 2; or CEFR level B2-C1.
