You'll be joining Bauer Media's Audio Platforms team in Portugal, part of a wider European technology organisation powering some of the most recognisable audio brands across the continent. The team you'll build and lead sits at the heart of this mission. Working closely with engineering teams in the UK and across multiple markets, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our digital audio platform runs smoothly, scales confidently, and responds quickly when things don't go to plan.
The difference you will make
This is a brand-new leadership role with real impact. You'll be responsible for creating and maturing a 24/7 Technical Operations function that supports Bauer's digital audio platform (RAYO) across multiple regions.
You won't be stepping into a fully formed operation. Instead, you'll have the opportunity to design the operating model, build the team, shape the processes, and embed a culture of accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement. The work you do here will directly influence how Bauer delivers its digital strategy and how quickly and effectively we respond to incidents as we scale.

Your role
As Head of Regional Technical Operations, you will lead a newly formed 24/7 support function responsible for monitoring, incident response, and operational stability across Bauer's digital audio services.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Leading and developing a 24/7 Technical Operations team, including support engineers and incident-focused roles
Establishing incident management, escalation, and reporting processes aligned to ITIL principles
Acting as the escalation point for high-impact or complex operational issues
Working closely with engineering teams to improve observability, monitoring, and resilience
Driving operational maturity through automation, standardisation, and continuous improvement
Providing clear, timely communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders during incidents
Building a strong team culture focused on collaboration, ownership, and learning
The skills you will bring
Essential
Experience leading or operating within a 24/7 technical support or operations environment
Strong background in incident management, escalation, and service stability for digital services
Experience working across multiple regions or markets, collaborating with distributed teams
Confident communicator who remains calm and clear under pressure
Desirable
Experience with monitoring and observability tools
Broad technical understanding of modern platforms (cloud, distributed systems, containers, etc.)
Background in scaling or maturing operational teams or functions
We're particularly interested in step-up leaders – for example, senior team leads or managers ready to take ownership of a regional operation and build something meaningful.
Working pattern / location
This role is based in Lisbon, Portugal, with a hybrid working model. The exact balance between office and remote working will be agreed locally, with flexibility where possible. Candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance of Lisbon.
