Senior Finance Manager / Finance Manager - Real Estate Development
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Finance Manager / Finance Manager to join our finance team. This role will support accounting operations, financial analysis, and reporting.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, supporting business planning, budgeting, financial control, and project-level analysis. The position requires a strong command of financial reporting, forecasting, and modelling, together with the ability to translate financial information into clear recommendations for decision-making.
Reporting to the COO, this person will be integrated in the Operations team, supporting corporate financial strategy implementation and the current operations of the company.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead monthly reporting, variance analysis, and monitoring of headcount, overheads, and operating expenses versus budget and forecast.
* Process payments, expense reimbursements and invoices in the platform system.
* Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to track company performance and financial health.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
* Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to senior management and project teams, leveraging insights from financial analysis to optimize project profitability and mitigate risks.
* Develop, maintain, and review financial models for real estate development, investment, or operating assets, including cost assumptions, revenue projections, cash flow timing, and scenario analysis.
* Control and manage the financial model, ensuring version integrity, input accuracy, and alignment with project and corporate strategy; coordinate updates across teams and maintain a single source of truth for all financial projections.
* Manage the relationship with the bookkeeping firm, overseeing the accuracy of accounting records and ensuring timely delivery of all required outputs.
* Liaise with the corporate bank on all banking matters, including account management, payments, and any financing or treasury requirements.
* Deal with the tax authority on all tax-related matters, coordinating with external tax advisors as needed to ensure full compliance and timely filings.
* Prepare clear and accurate stakeholder reports, communicating financial performance, project updates, and key metrics to senior management and relevant counterparties.
* Keep track of all project costs and update the project business plan on a frequent basis, ensuring financial projections remain current and aligned with on-the-ground developments.
Requirements
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field, obtained from a first-tier Portuguese university.
* Between 5-7 years of experience in similar functions, preferably with a focus on real estate development.
* Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices and data analysis.
* Good working knowledge of real estate finance concepts, such as project cash flows, capex monitoring, revenue assumptions, and profitability analysis.
* Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, including the ability to build, stress-test, and maintain dynamic models for real estate development and investment, with strong command of Excel-based tools and scenario analysis techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
* Advanced analytical skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
* Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken), as it is the working language of the team.
* Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
