Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for the commercial activities in the European region in support of all Howmet Fastening System (HFS) aerospace OEM customers. The role includes managing and coordinating outside sales, inside sales, and product proposals/pricing. It is a key position for growing profitable sales, developing strategic plans for increased sales and margin, and executing a short‑term and long‑term commercial strategy for aerospace OEM customers. The Director will also interface with operations, marketing, engineering, customer representatives, and management, resolving issues related to orders, delivery, product applications, pricing, and other commercial and technical matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Direct the European commercial team (Customer Service, Account Management and Product Management/Pricing) in the identification, development and sustainment of customer accounts in line with the business strategy.
* Execute strategies to support seamless market capture for all sales channels within HFS, working closely with the Director of Global Distribution Sales, EU Sales Director for Howmet Aerospace Distribution (HAD), and Director of Global Product Management to maximize sales and profitability while minimizing conflict and internal competition.
* Work closely with application and design engineering to identify new product development opportunities and line extensions, supporting product marketing initiatives to optimize sales growth.
* Act as a key member of the European operations organization, supporting cost‑price recovery initiatives and business development planning in the region.
* Establish challenging objectives (for direct reports) to meet HFS growth strategy and target new business within existing and developing markets, ensuring priorities are defined with effective action plans.
* Liaise with various HFS locations globally to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Facilitate the resolution of customer issues, including quality and on‑time delivery performance.
* Develop, review and manage contract requirements to ensure they comply with established policies and procedures, including commercial and intellectual property requirements.
* Prepare and deliver customer presentations as needed, coordinating commercial, technical and market details for product and marketing literature and trade show displays.
* Conduct people‑management responsibilities, including hiring, job assignments, performance reviews and other personnel functions in a timely and professional manner.
* Identify key skills of team members to enable them to perform effectively and efficiently, developing the team's skill base and knowledge.
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures and environmental health and safety rules, working in a safe manner that promotes health and well‑being.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an accredited university is required; an MBA is a plus.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in aerospace fasteners sales.
* Minimum 5 years of management level experience.
* Proven interpersonal and leadership abilities to lead a diverse team and interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
