About the role:
We are looking for a Director of Catering Sales to join our amazing team in Lisbon!
What you will do:
1. Actively prospect and solicit, develop, and maintain local corporate catering accounts through telephone, personal sales calls, trade shows, and on-site entertainment. Finalize the requirements of personally booked catering events while maximizing revenue potential through up selling and ensuring effective communication both written (Resumes, BEO, Daily Reports) and personal contact with all departments for the success of the event.
2. Supervision of the Catering Sales staff in their day-to-day roles, including maintaining and monitoring the accuracy and effectiveness of all written communications.
3. Finalize the requirements of personally booked or assigned Event bookings while maximizing revenue potential through up selling and ensuring effective communication.
4. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Conference Service, prepare with analysis the weekly 3-Month financial forecast, month end financial summaries, and contribute to the annual Marketing Plan and Budget.
5. Complete periodic audits of the Account and Booking Data in Golden S&C.
6. Evaluate current sales/service practices and make recommendations to maximize the profitability of the Events resources.
7. Develop single Event P&L for major on-site events.
8. Oversee the quarterly administration and seek new ways to motivate and maximize revenues.
9. Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of program or event.
10. Supervise the execution of banquet events and ensure satisfaction of client at the outset of all events.
11. Make timely and impromptu decisions that balance client’s needs with the financial, safety and staffing goals of the hotel.
12. Monitor Meetings and Events website and take ownership of content and 3rd Party listings for corporate and social business.
13. Actively participate as Catering representative in RevMax meetings daily and lead catering pipeline meetings weekly.
14. Understand lead volume by source and promotional efforts in place to increase leads.
15. Set up and drive pre-con and post con interviews with focus on repeat business and P2P.
16. Attend revenue management/forecast/strategy meetings.
17. Shadow DOM in annual goal setting process and incentive reconciliation; prepare goal suggestion and review with DOM.
18. Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities, capacities and dimensions of meeting space and basic operational needs of all operating departments.
19. Work with culinary team to create and/or revise banquet menus, including pricing and best in class product offering.
20. Prepare/plan/organize and execute promotion initiatives such as corporate planner days/wedding planner events.
21. Plan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel staff and clients.
22. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Conference Service / the Director of Marketing and the Director of Finance manage all 3rd party contracts related to Catering & Events.
23. Conduct performance evaluations and mentor Catering Sales Managers / Executives and Coordinators.
24. Facilitate and monitor training, recommend the hiring, terminating, or disciplining of any Catering employee.
25. Respond according to the crisis management plan to any resort emergency or safety situation.
26. Comply with Four Seasons standards for sales and marketing, while working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and planning committee.
What you bring:
1. A minimum of five years’ experience in Catering / Event Sales & Service;
2. A (4) year college/university degree (or equivalent);
3. Great personal and business references required;
4. Excellent communication skills and a strong, innovative mindset;
5. Strong community relations;
6. Ability to motivate and lead a team of professionals;
7. Require reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English and Portuguese language;
8. EU citizenship is required.
