About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Senior Product Designer to join our innovative team.
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, designing, and refining products that blend mechanical engineering principles with industrial design aesthetics.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver with a strong mechanical background, capable of thriving in collaborative team environments as well as working independently on complex projects.
You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, from ideation to manufacturing-ready designs, ensuring our products are functional, user-friendly, and manufacturable on scale.
If you are a fast learner with a "can-do" attitude, eager to tackle challenges in a dynamic setting, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
The Job Role is focused on the following:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including engineers, product managers, and stakeholders) to develop innovative product concepts that meet user needs and business goals
Create detailed 3D models, prototypes, and technical drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, materials selection, and cost-efficiency
Conduct design reviews, iterate on feedback, and perform mechanical analysis to validate product performance and durability
Integrate basic electronic components into designs, considering factors like wiring, enclosures, and user interfaces
Produce high-quality visual presentations, renderings, and documentation using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Manage design files and revisions through SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Management) systems to maintain version control and team collaboration
Research and apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication), and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure feasible and scalable production.
Prototype and test designs, incorporating user feedback and iterating rapidly to meet project timelines
Work autonomously on assigned tasks while contributing to group brainstorming sessions and problem-solving initiatives
Qualifications
Key requirements should include:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
A master's degree would be preferable
Proven experience (3+ years preferred) in industrial and mechanical product design, with a portfolio showcasing successful projects from concept to production
SolidWorks certification at CSWA level or higher, with advanced proficiency in modelling, assemblies, and simulations
Hands-on experience with SolidWorks PDM for file management and collaboration
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for creating visual assets, mood boards, and renderings
Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation, data analysis, and presentations
Solid understanding of mechanical principles, including strength of materials, kinematics, and structural integrity
In-depth knowledge of materials science, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacturing (DFM) best practices
Basic understanding of electronics, such as circuit integration, PCB enclosures, and sensor placement
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings as well as independently, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Fast learner with a proactive, "can-do" attitude, adaptable to evolving project requirements and technologies
Experience
The Job Role requires:
Minimum of 5-10 years in a similar role.
Experience in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices, or consumer goods
Familiarity with additional CAD tools (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360) or prototyping methods (e.g., 3D printing, CNC)
Portfolio highlighting projects involving electronics integration or sustainable design practices
