We are now looking for a proactive Ocean Engineer to join our Ocean Engineering team, supporting both commercial projects and R&D activities in the field of offshore hydrodynamics and numerical modelling. Role DescriptionWe are seeking a proactive and technically strong Offshore/Ocean Engineer with a solid background in hydrodynamics and numerical modelling, particularly with CFD and/or OrcaFlex for offshore maritime structures. The role is focused on supporting clients with technical problems on traditional maritime, naval, offshore industry and blue economy applications. Examples range from classical applications (ship resistance, ship propulsion, vessel DP capabilities, mooring layout) to blue economy (offshore aquaculture perfomance) to MRE ( offshore wind, wave energy, tidal energy). A mix between fast paced commercial project and long term R&D projects is expected. Main ResponsibilitiesSupport Orcaflex modelling capacities: Produce technical reports, analyse results and provide recommendations based on the analysis. Support long term technical research on these fields, leading to scientific conference publications and building the internal knowledge at blueOASIS. Support our internal product team with the design of a smart buoy mooring, www.hydrotwin.ai, and improve on its design based on deployment experience. Expertise NeededVery good knowledge of hydrodynamics, offshore engineering and numerical modelling techniques. Hands on experience with CFD And/OR Hands on experience with Orcaflex, OrcaWave, and Orcaflex API. Proficient in python, scripting, and process automations. Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate technical conclusions clearly. Proactive attitude and ability to work across both commercial and R&D contexts. Added Value (two of any of these skills are needed)Experience/knowledge with oceanographic/coastal modelling. Experience/knowledge with CFD for offshore/MRE applications. Experience/knowledge of field sensorization and/or model testing. Experience/knowledge/interest in Digital Twins of the Ocean. Basic knowledge of Linux. Basic knowledge of HPC, from a user perspective. General experience in the offshore and/or MRE industry. General ConditionsWork in TorresVedras or Faial office. 3 days minimum per week in the office.
