Energy Solutions division
is developing and manufacturing stationary energy storage batteries, from backup power to large-scale storage systems (BESS and C&I). Exide's technology portfolio spans from multiple lead-acid over to lithium-ion technologies supporting the global energy transition and digitalization. Our storage systems are used in UPS, Telecom, Datacenters, Public Transport, in Front-of- and Behind-the-Meter applications and many more.
About the job:
For our fast-growing division Energy Solutions in Castanheira do Ribatejo, Portugal at the earliest possible date we are looking for a:
System Engineer - Power Conversion & Grid Integration.
Reporting to the Department Manager, you will be responsible, within the R&D team, for delivering a technically robust, grid compliant, and fully optimized electrical architecture for turnkey BESS plants.
What will your daily responsibilities include in this role?
Serve as the technical lead for power conversion and grid integration topics - including converter/inverter selection, grid compliance, medium voltage system interfaces, and essential power system studies.
Develop and validate overall electrical system architecture, including equipment sizing, system topology, and performance calculations at the point of interconnection.
Lead the medium voltage system and Balance of Plant (BoP) electrical design, covering items such as MV stations, transformers, switchgear, protection devices, grounding systems, and auxiliary power.
Prepare key engineering deliverables such as single line diagrams, protection concepts, cable-sizing documents, and equipment specifications.
Ensure electrical safety, protection principles, and technical compliance across all phases of design and implementation.
Support tenders, technical proposals, and project execution while collaborating closely with multi disciplinary engineering teams.
What we ask for:
Degree in Electrotechnics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Professional experience of at least 2 years in an industrial environment or in technical after sales support.
Knowledge of power systems, electrical installations, or related areas.
English level C1 required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability to travel within Europe.
Ability to work in international and multicultural scenarios.
Results orientation.
Strong sense of responsibility.
