Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access Specialist
As a skilled American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, you will facilitate communication between individuals who use ASL and those who communicate in spoken English. Your role is to bridge the gap and ensure seamless interactions.
Job Responsibilities:
* Provide expert ASL interpretation services through video remote interpreting (VRI) technology.
* Answer inbound VRI sessions promptly and professionally.
* Assist clients with basic troubleshooting and escalate issues as needed.
* Offer exceptional customer service and support.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by management, including video and web-based ASL recorded translations.
Requirements:
* Comply with national, state, and local licensure and certification requirements.
* Adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills.
* Exhibit a professional phone manner when interacting with clients from diverse backgrounds.
* Be willing to adapt to a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of 24/7/365 VRI operations.
* Have familiarity with working in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office suite and remote connections.
* Hold RID certification and proof of current registration in Pennsylvania.
* Possess experience with VRS or VRI systems, as well as PC troubleshooting skills.
* Minimum of a high school diploma and willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
* At least 5 years of interpreting experience and a "can-do" attitude are required.
