THE ROLE
We are looking for a Junior Business Analyst (Early Career) to support the discovery, definition, and validation of business and data requirements across data and analytics projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for candidates with 0-2 years of experience, including recent graduates or those finishing their degree, with full-time availability.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (First 12 Months - with mentoring)
* Learn our ways of working and how we deliver data & analytics projects end-to-end, with guidance from senior team members
* Gather and clarify requirements with clients and internal stakeholders, then translate them into execution-ready inputs for the delivery team (scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and validation approach).
* Take ownership of business/data topics for a well-scoped domain or data source, becoming the go-to person for definitions, logic, and context
* Provide data-driven insights and rigorous analysis to help stakeholders understand performance, trends, and opportunities, strengthening the reliability and impact of deliverables
* Use SQL to explore data, validate assumptions, trace metrics back to source, and produce evidence to support requirements and delivery (joins, aggregations, filters, extracts)
* Support PMs in creating and refining Kanban cards and ensuring backlog readiness for development
* Join meetings as needed to unblock requirements and validate business logic; capture decisions/actions and update acceptance criteria accordingly
* Validate deliverables
* Help define data quality guardrails (expected ranges/tolerances and "red flag" conditions).
* Contribute to ML dataset definition and validation by shaping datasets to reflect intended business logic (labels, filters, caveats, edge cases) and supporting with SQL outputs
* Create and maintain documentation: Business Knowledge Handbook, definitions, mappings, lineage references, user guidance, and training materials
REQUIREMENTS

* Early-career profile: 1-2 year experience, recent graduate or final-year student (thesis stage) with full-time availability
* Background in Engineering, Management, Finance, or similar
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* SQL skills: able to write queries for exploration/validation (joins, aggregations, filters) and communicate findings clearly
* Client-facing mindset: able to engage stakeholders, ask the right questions, clarify requirements, and align expectations
* Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; detail-oriented and well-organized
* Comfortable working with extensive documentation and translating it into clear delivery inputs
* Team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment

LOCATION
We're based in Porto, Portugal. Although this is a remote working role, we are only considering people located in Portugal.
