Valmet's Global Supply Production develops and manufactures filter fabrics for the mining, chemical, pulp and paper industries, as well as for energy production, waste processing plants, and the food manufacturing industry. As environmental legislation gets tighter and the requirements for filtering waste and sewage become higher, filter fabrics must be increasingly durable and reliable, with the ability to filter different types of sludge and various particle sizes.
We are looking for an R&D Engineer to join our Filtration Fabrics Research and Technology Development team. The role is based in Ovar, Portugal.
Your main responsibilities include
* Planning, designing, and conducting research, development, and product maintenance to improve or generate new products to complement our offering, as a part of our global R&D team.
* Actively searching for new technologies for production and testing of new products.
* Specifying materials used for products and requirements of end products and seeking systematically new raw material sources and suppliers.
* Monitoring global development of relevant technologies and competitors in own product responsibility area.
* Supporting manufacturing and quality assessment of products.
* Technical data collection and analysis.
Who is the candidate we are looking for
* BSc/MSc in engineering, preferably textile, material, chemical.
* 3+ years of experience in industrial research and development.
* Experience in technical textile manufacturing is seen as advantage.
* Strong interpersonal skills dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
* Good written and verbal command of English and Portuguese.
* Availability to travel occasionally.
