Responsible for all core finance activities, including accounting, reporting, planning, and analysis for two legal entities, this role is embedded in the local management team in Portugal.
Description
Act as the main financial reference for the Portuguese business and oversee financial activities for the German entity
Own the controlling cycle, including management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for both entities
Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure timely, accurate reporting to the Group
Coordinate and lead month end close processes, ensuring consistency with Group standards
Ensure strong financial control, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets
Take responsibility for cash flow management, analysis, and forecasting
Approve payments, manage banking activities, and oversee payroll approval processes
Ensure compliance with local tax and statutory requirements, working with external advisors where applicable
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement and standardisation of financial controls, reporting, and processes across the Group
Manage and coordinate local finance resources and external service providers
Support finance systems optimisation, particularly around Sage X3 reporting and processes, working closely with IT
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support decision making
Profile
Degree in Finance, Accounting or Management
Certified accountant in Portugal
Around 3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in an international environment
Strong knowledge of controlling, reporting, accounting, budget, and forecast processes
Solid IT and systems awareness, comfortable working with finance systems
Experience with Sage X3 is an advantage
Able to work with limited supervision and meet tight deadlines
Hands on, detail oriented, but able to take a broader and more strategic view when needed
Strong communication skills, comfortable working with senior stakeholders
Fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken
German language skills are an advantage
