Our Market Managers take the lead in ensuring that the best of the city under one
roof provides each of our guests and team members a memorable experience with
each visit.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities and Standards
Uphold the highest standards of food and beverage quality, guest service, cost control, and consistency, aligning with company expectations and ensuring compliance with all city, state, and federal laws.
Ensure operational efficiency by consistently meeting budgeted revenue and labor expenses. Monitor labor costs and the bar's overall budget.
Maximize bar profitability and maintain effective controls, developing and implementing cost-saving and profit enhancement measures.
Develop and implement operating standards, policies, and procedures for the management team. Revise procedures as needed based on experience and sound judgment to accommodate unusual situations.
Participate in the development of the annual budget and short/long-term financial operating plans for the bar.
Open and/or close the Bar daily according to established standards and guidelines.
Follow and enforce cash handling procedures.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Assist Management with any tasks necessary for successful Bar operations.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead the entire Bar team through overseeing and participating in hiring, training, supervision, management, coaching, counseling, and evaluation.
Focus on succession management, training, and professional development for all Bar employees.
Delegate responsibilities to the management team as needed and consistently enforce existing policies.
Assign and instruct employees on the details of their work. Observe performance, encourage improvement, and ensure performance appraisal tools are utilized consistently and effectively.
Operate with an "open-door policy," actively listening to team requests, responding with appropriate actions, and providing accurate information.
Conduct pre-shift meetings and assist team members with inquiries.
Inventory, Vendor & Asset Management
Establish and enforce strict inventory controls, ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained for smooth bar operations. Participate in monthly inventory reconciliations with the purchasing and finance teams.
Maintain positive and professional relations with vendors and manage their interaction with staff on property.
Protect and enhance the value of all Bar assets through appropriate maintenance, security, and housekeeping programs, and through the capital budgeting process, in collaboration with the General Manager.
Compliance, Guest Experience & Community
Ensure health, safety, and sanitation requirements comply with the Department of Health, OSHA, and other city or state agencies, and keep all managers informed of legal changes.
Monitor guest satisfaction across all levels, including social media platforms. Engage with guests at the Bar to ensure positive experiences.
Ensure that all staff members adhere to suitable dress and grooming standards.
Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance that adheres to Company standards.
Create and execute action plans for any areas needing improvement or facing critical situations.
Support Market events, including bar management, promotions, event logistics, and beverage procurement.
Support the daily operational management of the Market's main beverage sponsors and partners.
Participate in community events and ensure the venue's corporate social responsibility goals are met.
Promote organization in industry, manufacturing, and/or trade associations.
Skills & Experience
Minimum of two to three years of experience in bar and restaurant operations is required.
Expert knowledge of bar/restaurant operations, including food, beverage, service techniques, and guest interaction.
Proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office and a POS system.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead by example and consistently act in a professional manner.
Effective and assertive communication skills, both verbal and written, with staff, clients, and the public.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to demonstrate a consistently positive attitude and maintain an open mind.
