Your New Company
You'll be joining a global engineering team that is centralising operations in Porto, with a focus on embedded hardware development for motion control systems. The team is part of a larger international structure, with remaining units in the UK and Sweden, but is transitioning toward a more Porto-based setup. The company operates across industries such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation, and is known for its robust and reliable engineering solutions.
Your New Role
As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you'll be part of a mid-level team working on both new and ongoing projects involving embedded electronics for Brushless DC motor control. You'll be responsible for the full hardware development cycle, including analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout, simulation, testing, and design for manufacturability. You'll collaborate closely with firmware and mechanical engineers, and contribute to functional safety and reliability engineering activities. While not a leadership role, you'll be expected to support and mentor colleagues, especially junior team members.
What you'll need to succeed
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (preferably with a focus on computer systems or physics)
* 5+ years of experience in hardware design, ideally in automotive or industrial sectors
* Strong skills in PCB design, circuit simulation, and lab testing
* Proficiency in Altium Designer and SPICE-based tools
* Familiarity with IPC standards, EMC practices, and DFM/DFT principles
* Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
* Fluency in Portuguese and English (for internal collaboration across European units)
What you'll get in return
* Permanent contract with a competitive salary
* Hybrid work model (3 days/week on-site in Porto)
* Free access to company canteen and social security benefits
* Opportunity to work on high-impact technologies in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment
* Career development within a multinational engineering team
