Ferring+You
We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to join our Global Direct Procurement team at Ferring Pharmaceuticals. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities related to R&D categories on a global scale.
You will play a key role in shaping and implementing procurement strategies that are fully aligned with Ferring’s global procurement vision. Your efforts will directly support supplier performance, innovation, cost efficiency, ESG development, and risk mitigation within the R&D space.
This is a dynamic role offering the opportunity to drive continuous improvement, collaborate across functions, and potentially contribute to other procurement categories as part of your development within a flexible and forward-thinking organization.
Your day at Ferring
Procurement Strategy & Management
* Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with global objectives.
* Collaborate with key divisions (MTS, SNO, GMN, GQA, Regulatory, etc.) to ensure effective execution of site strategies.
* Promote early procurement involvement in projects to optimize sourcing outcomes.
* Share best practices and provide solutions to enhance procurement services.
Sourcing & Vendor Management
* Execute sourcing processes, including market analysis, RFI/RFP execution, and proposal evaluation.
* Negotiate contracts to achieve cost savings, optimize commercial terms, and improve cash flow.
* Implement risk mitigation strategies for short-, mid-, and long-term vendor management.
* Monitor supplier performance, leveraging data to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
* Introduce tools and processes to enhance vendor accountability and contract compliance.
* Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for vendor and category management.
* Improve contract coverage and develop dual sourcing strategies.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
* Drive procurement efficiency through best practices and process enhancements.
* Ensure accurate and timely reporting of cost savings and procurement impact.
* Support ESG initiatives and supplier-enabled innovation.
Behind our innovation…There’s you
* Degree in Science education or related.
* 3-5 years of experience in Procurement management (pharmaceutical R&D or manufacturing environment).
* Category expertise a major plus, R&D: CRO, Central Labs, Analytical Labs, clinical trial supply, Lab Supplies and Equipment, etc.
* Strong communication, influencing and mentoring skills.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Experienced in working with SAP/ Oracle (is a plus).
* Experience in dealing with commercial contracts. Experience in project management & ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple projects / workstreams and changing requirements.
* Strong skills with Microsoft office package.
* Ability to represent Ferring's interests to outside professionals and suppliers.
* Comprehensive understanding of Procurement processes and knowledge of best practices for sourcing, supplier management and procure-to-pay.
