Job Overview
The role of a Functional Safety Expert revolves around ensuring the safe operation of machinery and equipment in the workplace. This involves implementing and enforcing health, safety, and hazardous material standards, as well as monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain an effective Machinery Safety program, encompassing implementation and continuous improvement initiatives across AUT EMEA sites.
* Provide technical expertise on integrating Machinery Safety methodologies into existing processes, machinery, and equipment, as well as supporting the implementation of new/modified TE policies such as TEC 124-98 Control Reliable Safety Systems, TEC 124-118 Machine Safeguarding, and TEC 124-101 Hazardous Energy/LOTO.
* Offer guidance and support to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, CoEs, regional, and site EHS teams on all aspects of Machinery Safety & Ergonomics.
* Promote regular communication and collaboration with site and functional Machinery Safety experts through established channels.
* Design and implement training programs for TE sites, functional project leaders, design engineers, and other relevant stakeholders on Machinery Safety best practices and knowledge management.
* Identify common challenges, gaps, and problems related to Machinery Safety and develop solutions and standardized execution methods.
* Collaborate with functional project leaders and design engineers during the design review and verification process.
* Support Factory Acceptance Tests for equipment manufacturers and conduct reviews, audits, and assessments at suppliers as needed.
* Manage and provide or direct applicable FSM (Functional Safety Management)/LOTO training for employees, supervisors, and management teams within ME & CoE.
* Share FSM best practices across regions and sites.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of existing and proposed changes concerning functional safety.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Expertise in Machinery Safety principles, regulations, and industry standards.
* Proven track record in implementing and maintaining effective safety programs.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work effectively in a team environment.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
