Location: Viana do Castelo, Portugal Role: R&D Manager – The R&D Manager oversees research and development activities to advance Gazelle's technology, plans and executes strategic R&D initiatives aligned with organizational objectives, and establishes partnerships with external entities for knowledge exchange and resource acquisition. Responsibilities Lead and manage the R&D activities within the organization, developing R&D strategies, goals, and roadmaps aligned with business objectives. Identify research opportunities and technology gaps in the renewable energy sector, particularly in offshore wind, and develop plans to address them through innovation and experimentation. Manage R&D projects from inception to commercialization, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project execution, while ensuring compliance with timelines and deliverables. Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the R&D team, encouraging creativity, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. Collaborate with cross‐functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and business development, to integrate R&D findings into product development and commercialization processes. Establish partnerships and collaborations with external research organizations, universities, government agencies, and industry partners to leverage expertise, resources, and funding opportunities. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in the renewable energy sector, providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior management. Communicate R&D progress, results, and potential impact to internal stakeholders, external partners, investors, and regulatory agencies through presentations, reports, and publications. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and ethical guidelines in conducting R&D activities, maintaining the integrity and reputation of the organization. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering or related field. 6‐10 years of experience in Research & Development, preferably in the renewable energy sector or a related industry. Track record of leading R&D projects from concept to commercialization, with a focus on innovation and technology advancement. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams of researchers, engineers, and scientists. Expertise in renewable energy technologies, particularly wind energy, and offshore wind systems; specialization in hydro/aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and materials science relevant to wind energy R&D. Familiarity with emerging technologies and research trends in the renewable energy sector, including offshore wind turbine design, floating platforms, and advanced materials. Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to drive innovation and manage R&D projects within budget and schedule constraints. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders. Strategic thinking and problem‐solving abilities, focusing on identifying research opportunities, setting priorities, and allocating resources effectively. Knowledge of intellectual property (IP) management, patent processes, and technology transfer practices relevant to R&D activities. Understanding of regulatory requirements, environmental considerations, and market dynamics impacting the renewable energy industry. Proficiency in data analysis, experimental design, and research methodologies, with the ability to evaluate and interpret technical data and results. Fluency in English is required; Portuguese is beneficial but not mandatory. General Conditions Location: Based in the Viana do Castelo office, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, ideally 4‐5 days. Contract: Permanent contract with an initial trial period; 40‐hour work week. Vacation: 22 days annually. Salary: €3,571 – €5,714 gross per month (based on experience), 14 salaries per year.
