Job OverviewAzure Data Engineer – responsible for the entire data lifecycle from collection and ingestion to analytics and action. Work on large‐volume, cloud‐based data platforms using Microsoft Azure tools such as Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage (Gen 2), Cosmos DB, and SQL Server. Collaborate with analytics, business, and engineering teams to design and deliver enterprise‐grade BI solutions and support data‐driven decision making. Key ResponsibilitiesImplement technical solutions that support end‐to‐end data pipelines. Design, develop and maintain data warehouses, data marts and data lakes using T‐SQL, Spark, SQL, Python, Scala or PySpark. Ensure data quality, governance, and security across production environments. Create and maintain SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks jobs; monitor performance and troubleshoot issues. Collaborate with analytics teams to build and expose datasets for Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools. Mentor junior team members and support their technical growth. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long‐term data platform strategy. Maintain or earn Microsoft certifications and keep skills current with new Azure offerings. Required Experience and QualificationsAt least 2 years of professional data engineering or related experience. Hands‐on experience in Azure (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Data Lake Storage, Cosmos DB). Proficiency in SQL and, preferably, Python, Scala or Spark for data transformation. Experience with modern data stack tools (Snowflake, dbt, ETL/ELT frameworks). Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including storage, compute, and IAM services. Ability to design and implement data models, pipelines, and metadata management. Skills and CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem‐solving abilities. Excellent communication skills – able to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders. Self‐motivated, independent, and comfortable working in a fast‐paced environment. Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance best practices. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure‐as‐code tools (e.g., Terraform). Ability to work collaboratively across cross‐functional teams.
