Offer Description
It is hereby announced that, for a period of 30 working days, commencing on the fifth working day following the publication of this notice on the official website of the University, applications are open for a position of Assistant Professor (full-time), in the disciplinary area of Marketing.
The opening of this call has been authorised by COFAC – Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural, C.R.L., the founding body of Universidade Lusófona, within the scope of its legal competence to recruit academic and research staff, pursuant to subparagraph i) of paragraph 1 of Article 30 of Law no. 62/2007, of 10 September, and subparagraph i) of paragraph 5 of Article 7 of the Statutes of Universidade Lusófona.
One position is available.
The appointed academic staff member shall, in accordance with the applicable legislation and regulations, carry out the following activities:
i) Deliver teaching on campus and, when necessary, online, in the field of Marketing;
ii) Participate in academic activities within the School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies (ECATI);
iii) Engage in professional and community outreach activities;
iv) Provide academic and career guidance to students;
v) Conduct advanced and internationally oriented research within the Research Centre for Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies (CICANT);
vi) Contribute to the internationalisation of both ECATI and CICANT;
vii) Lead and collaborate in the preparation of applications for competitive national and international research funding;
viii) Collaborate in research training activities aligned with the scientific strategy of ECATI and CICANT.
Contractual Conditions
i) Integration into the academic career structure of Universidade Lusófona, under a full-time regime;
ii) Open-ended employment contract (permanent);
iii) Gross monthly base salary commensurate with qualifications and professional experience, to be set between €2,400.00 and €3,600.00;
iv) Expected start date: 01 September 2025;
v) Tuition fee reduction for the employee and eligible family members, in accordance with the applicable internal regulations;

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate must:
i) Hold a PhD degree in Marketing;
ii) Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and to carry out the activities described;
iii) Have proficient oral and written communication skills in both Portuguese and English (minimum level B2);
iv) Demonstrate strong teaching skills, as evidenced by the design and delivery of degree-awarding courses and postgraduate programmes;
v) Preferably, have participated in national and/or international R&D, outreach, and community engagement activities related to the areas mentioned;
vi) Preferably, be the author of relevant scholarly publications in peer-reviewed international journals (e.g. CORE A or A* ranked conferences, or journals indexed in SciMago);
vii) Preferably, have prior experience in coordinating research projects in the topics outlined in the proposal.

Selection process
Selection Method
* All eligible applications will be assessed based on the quality, relevance, and suitability of the applicant’s academic and teaching record, scientific output, research experience aligned with the strategic goals of the School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies (ECATI) and the Research Centre for Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies (CICANT), as well as the potential for generating new knowledge relevant to the academic communities of ECATI and CICANT. The professional experience of the applicants and their overall suitability for the role will also be considered.
* During the selection process, the panel will assess the following components, using a scale from 0 to 100:
i) The applicant’s scientific career, with particular emphasis on scientific work carried out or published within the past five years in areas related to the position (up to 35% of the overall evaluation);
ii) The applicant’s professional experience, particularly in the last five years, in areas relevant to the position (up to 55% of the evaluation);
iii) The motivation letter in English (10% of the evaluation), assessed in terms of motivation and interest in the proposed activities (5%) and English language proficiency (5%).
* Should the selection panel opt to conduct interviews (strictly for clarification of aspects related to the candidate’s research outcomes), these may account for up to 10% of the final score. A maximum of five candidates with the highest preliminary scores will be invited. Only candidates who have obtained a score above 60 will be considered for interview and final ranking.
* The Selection Panel shall meet and, within a maximum of 15 working days from the first working day following the closing date for applications, reach a decision on the final ranking of candidates, to be recorded in an ordered list.
* A minutes document will be drawn up for each meeting of the Selection Panel, recording the matters discussed, the individual votes of each panel member, and the reasoning behind all decisions taken.
* The Selection Panel shall submit its final recommendation to the Rector, within five working days after the deliberation deadline mentioned above. The candidates will be formally notified and may, if they so wish, submit a written statement to the Rector within ten working days, who will then issue a final decision within the same period.
Approval
The Rector shall approve the final ranking within ten working days, counting from the working day following the conclusion of the response period for candidates’ submissions.

The appointed academic staff member shall exercise the rights and fulfil the duties established under the applicable internal regulations of Universidade Lusófona.
