Role Summary
The Senior Accounting Auditor ensures the effective deployment, monitoring and assessment of the Group's Accounting Control framework across assigned regions and entities.
The role requires strong autonomy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to challenge, guide and support regional Finance teams while ensuring high-quality reporting to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of the accounting control setup across assigned regions/entities
- Build transparent, trust-based and efficient communication with regional and process stakeholders
- Ensure proper rollout and monitoring of the Group Accounting Control Plan
- Perform oversight reviews of regional/entity control environments and assess deficiencies
- Report identified gaps and risks clearly and concisely to senior management and governance bodies
- Ensure regional Finance teams comply with all control obligations and Group procedures
- Perform 2nd Line of Defence (LOD2) controls on central Finance teams
Accounting Certification
- Collect, review and analyse accounting certification statements from regions/entities
- Understand the production and control environment of each region/entity
- Summarise issues, deficiencies and remediation plans in a precise and structured manner
- Support preparation of certification-related reports
Recommendations & Operational Risk
- Monitor recommendations from Internal Audit, regulators and External Auditors
- Follow operational risk incidents involving Finance and assess impact on the control framework
- Track remediation plans and deadlines
Governance & Committees
- Conduct quarterly Internal Control Committee meetings with regions/entities
- Contribute to the Accounting and Financial Risk Committee for assigned regions
- Hold ad-hoc meetings with regional Finance teams when necessary
- Ensure deployment of any other applicable control plans
Technical Profile
- Background in Audit (Big4 or similar) within Financial Services
- Strong understanding of IFRS standards
- Experience in internal control, audit or risk within the banking or financial sector
- Solid accounting knowledge and ability to challenge processes and stakeholders
Language Requirements
- English: B2 minimum
