You'll design, implement, and run scalable backend systems that turn large streams of data into reliable, accessible insight.ResponsibilitiesBuild and operate backend services on top of a large-scale data platform.Use AWS services (Redshift, Athena, S3, Kinesis, Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, SQS) to deliver scalable, resilient data solutions.Design APIs, data models, and workflows for data-intensive applications and analytics.Work with product and stakeholders to shape and deliver features end to end.Monitor and improve data quality, performance, and reliability across batch and streaming pipelines.Create clear documentation for APIs, data models, workflows, and operations.Drive engineering best practices, code reviews, and continuous improvement.RequirementsStrong backend engineering experience with Java and SQL; Python exposure is a plus.Track record building and running data-intensive systems at scale (batch and streaming).Hands-on experience with core AWS services (e.g. EC2, Redshift, Athena, S3, Kinesis, SQS, Step Functions, Lambda).Confidence working with relational and analytical databases; Postgre SQL and Redshift are a plus.Ability to design scalable, maintainable architectures and debug complex production issues.Clear communicator who can document and explain complex technical topics.Happy to work with a US hours cross overNice to haveExperience with data lakes, data warehouses, and the modern data stack.Familiarity with event-driven and streaming architectures (e.g. Kinesis, Kafka).Experience working closely with product, data, and frontend teams.Background in building data products, analytics platforms, or decision-support tools.Interest in performance, cost optimisation, and reliability for large-scale cloud-native systems.
