We're hiring an experienced
Cloud Data Engineer
to join our team in Porto. You'll design, implement, and optimize cloud data pipelines, Lakehouse architectures, and ETL workflows — all while ensuring reliability, maintainability, and security in a hybrid cloud environment.
What do you need to be a SMART Cloud Data Engineer?
* 3+ years of experience in cloud data engineering (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP a plus)
* Hands-on experience designing and developing ETL pipelines and data workflows
* Familiarity with Lakehouse architectures (Iceberg preferred; Hudi or Delta are a plus)
* Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS Step Functions
* Solid understanding of cloud data storage, compute services, and data modeling
* Knowledge of data governance, quality, and security best practices
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Fluent in English (written and oral)
* Self-driven, motivated, and a collaborative team player
* Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
What will your role at SMART be?
* Advise on data strategy, architecture, and implementation approaches
* Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on public cloud platforms
* Implement and optimize Lakehouse architectures for large-scale data processing
* Automate ETL processes, data workflows, and orchestration to ensure efficiency
* Ensure high standards of reliability, maintainability, and security in all solutions
* Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive measures
* Share knowledge and best practices with internal teams to enhance capabilities
* Collaborate with architects, delivery managers, project managers, developers, and business analysts
Nice to Have
* Experience with advanced data orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Step Functions)
* Prior involvement in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud data environments
* Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift)
