Bioinformatics Expert (Research and Development)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Expert to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics and hands-on experience with cloud computing and complex biological data.
* Cloud Pipeline Development & Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines in cloud environments for processing and analysing large-scale omics data. This includes optimising workflows for efficiency, robustness and cost-effectiveness.
* Multi-omic Data Analysis: Handle diverse multi-omic data types, including cancer WGS, RNA-seq, single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing, and contribute to the development and evaluation of novel computational pipelines for analysing omics data.
* Data Integration & Visualisation: Integrate genomic data with other relevant biological datasets and develop compelling visualisations to communicate complex findings.
* Collaboration: Provide timely and expert bioinformatics support through our research department, including experimental biologists, clinicians, and other bioinformaticians, to achieve core research goals.
* Documentation & Reproducibility: Ensure rigorous documentation of all analyses, code, and pipelines to promote reproducibility and facilitate knowledge sharing.
* A bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in bioinformatics and cloud computing.
* Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
* Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and their applications in bioinformatics.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with researchers from various disciplines.

The position is based at our research center, located in Lisbon, Portugal.
The contract will be for an initial period of one year, renewable upon mutual agreement.
The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of their qualifications and experience before commencing employment.
