The Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA-Portugal) invites outstanding national and international scientists to join our growing institute at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. We are seeking highly qualified researchers with strong scientific track records and a demonstrated ability to secure competitive funding-either planning to apply for competitive funding with our support or seeking to transfer existing funding to our institute.

The Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA-Portugal) invites outstanding national and international scientists to join our growing institute at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. We are seeking highly qualified researchers with strong scientific track records and a demonstrated ability to secure competitive funding-either planning to apply for competitive funding with our support or seeking to transfer existing funding to our institute.
Permanent appointments are available for candidates who obtain prestigious international funding, namely European Research Council (ERC) awards.
We accept expressions of interest for the following career stages:
* Assistant Researcher (up to 7 years post-PhD)
* Principal Investigator (up to 12 years post-PhD)
* Coordinator of Research/Professor (>12 years post-PhD)
We also invite fully funded senior scientists to establish a research group at MIA-Portugal for a defined period, through visiting, sabbatical, or secondment arrangements.

* Biological clocks, cell signalling, and nutrient sensing
* Mitochondrial biology, energy metabolism, and autophagy
* Immunity, inflammaging, and stem cell biology
* Cell senescence and reprogramming
* Inter-organ communication and the microbiome
* Population studies, genomic and preventive medicine
* Pharmacogenomics
* Systems ageing, data science, and AI
* Drug design and screening
