Job Description
In this strategic role, you will be responsible for orchestrating global trade compliance processes and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards. Reporting to the Associate Director Global Trade Compliance, you will drive analytics and lead initiatives to achieve zero surprises, zero penalties, and zero delays in global trade flows.
The Global Trade CoE serves as a central function, partnering with Regional Operations and Trade Compliance functions to ensure secure, scalable, and seamless global trade flows. The team consists of 1 Associate Director and 3 Senior Specialists.
This position requires a deep understanding of import/export practices, policies, and regulations. You will develop and maintain knowledge of world-class import/export practices and provide strategic stewardship for global trade compliance systems and processes.
You will work closely with regional experts across Technology, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Transportation to develop a global sustainable compliance process.
Main Responsibilities
* Own policies, standards, and global import/export processes while driving continuous improvements and best practices.
* Provide strategic and tactical stewardship for global trade compliance systems and processes to assigned markets, partners, and stakeholder groups.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of world-class import/export practices for translation to business optimization and efficiency opportunities.
* Be the champion for import/export activities globally through improved trade cycles and compliance process effectiveness.
* Drive 100% compliance with laws and regulations for import/export under a LEAN mindset.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in International Trade, Global Tax, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
* At least 5 years of experience in an import/export role with knowledge of global trade compliance processes and interplay with global supply chain.
* Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following regulatory environments: Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and/or Health Care.
* International trade business acumen includes tariff classifications, customs valuation, license management, preferential origin determination background. Experience with AI and trade compliance is a plus.
* Attention to detail, good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Strong ability to manage import/export compliance programs effectively.
* Experience with HS-Classifications and leveraging AI for enhanced accuracy.
* Proficient in determining Preferential Origin to optimize trade agreements.
* Skilled in Denied Party List Screening to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Proficient in managing Customs Valuation Programs for optimal trade operations.
* Strong oral and written communication skills in English and an additional proficiency in European languages is considered an asset.
