The Librarian will be responsible for managing the school library, creating an engaging and welcoming environment for learning and research.
They will play a key role in supporting the school community by promoting a love for reading and developing research and critical thinking skills.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Library Management:Manage student behaviour in the library.Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, including cataloguing, shelving, and organising materials.Maintain an up-to-date and well-organised collection of books, periodicals, digital resources, and multimedia materials.Enforce library policies and procedures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all users.Collection Development:Assess the needs and interests of students and staff to curate a diverse and relevant library collection within budget constraints.Stay current with educational trends and emerging technologies to enhance the library's resources.Regularly remove outdated or irrelevant materials to maintain a fresh and valuable collection.Reader Services:Collaborate with leaders and teachers in both sections to raise the profile of reading and to plan for and implement whole school reading experiences like World Book Day.Promote a love for reading by organising book clubs, reading challenges, and author visits.Assist students in selecting age-appropriate reading materials based on their interests and reading levels
