Portfolio Management Lead
This role involves overseeing the corporate IT project portfolio management function, ensuring that a significant annual investment in various initiatives is selected, prioritized, executed, and monitored to deliver measurable business value.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project, program, and portfolio management, with a strong background in e-commerce or high-volume B2C/B2B digital businesses. They should be skilled in introducing or maturing PPM methodologies, benefits management, and executive reporting in distributed environments.
Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Governance & Strategy Alignment:
* Ensure the Corporate IT Portfolio is managed in accordance with Company's PPM framework, stage-gates, and facilitate governance forums.
* Align project selection and prioritization with Corporate IT strategy, OKRs, and enterprise goals.
* Provide advisory recommendations on project approval, continuation, or termination.
2. Methodology & Standards:
* Roll out v1 of the AUTODOC PPM methodology; embed it with project managers, sponsors, and stakeholders.
* Define and enforce artefact standards (business case, RAID log, status report, benefits-realisation plan, post-implementation review).
* Continuous improvement: drive and facilitate improvements, based on lessons learned. Adjust methodology and ways of working accordingly.
3. Portfolio Execution:
* Ensure timely delivery of strategic projects, managed by the PPM team.
* Change Request Management: ensure critical project parameters, such as scope, budget, and schedule are under control, and change request controls are in place.
4. Reporting & Analytics:
* Publish monthly portfolio progress reports and dashboards, highlighting financials, schedule, risk, and benefits realisation.
* Track Corporate IT KPIs and produce quarterly strategy-execution reports (QPRs).
5. Benefits Management & Financial Control:
* Partner with Finance to quantify, track, and validate project benefits; establish post-implementation evaluation procedures.
* Monitor capex/opex envelope and forecast variance.
6. People Leadership & Community Enablement:
* Directly manage a PMO team of six (project managers, coordinator, portfolio manager).
* Foster a wider community of practice for ~20 distributed project leads, providing coaching, templates, and quality assurance.
7. Tooling & Continuous Improvement:
* Evaluate and recommend fit-for-purpose PPM tooling once methodology adoption is at scale.
* Drive continuous improvement of delivery practices (waterfall for projects, agile for product backlogs).
8. Stakeholder Engagement:
* Serve as trusted advisor to the VP Corporate IT, project sponsors, and C-level stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, and Product on matters related to Projects Portfolio Planning and Execution.
* Facilitate steering-committee and executive-level decision making with clear, data-driven insights.
9. Requirements:
* 10+ years in project, programme, and/or portfolio management, with at least 3 years leading a PMO/PPM function.
* Demonstrated success managing mixed portfolios (technology, business operations) of €3 million+ and 50+ initiatives.
* Background in e-commerce—ideally automotive—or high-volume B2C/B2B digital businesses.
* Hands-on experience introducing or maturing PPM methodologies, benefits management, and executive reporting in distributed, multilingual environments.
* Track record of coaching project managers and influencing senior stakeholders without direct decision rights.
* Portfolio credential (PfMP) or Agile/SAFe certification.
* Familiarity with SAP, WMS, or large-scale ERP roll-outs.
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
* PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
* Fluency in English (company working language).
* Advanced knowledge of portfolio & project management best practice.
* Strong leadership and engagement skills, with the ability to influence others and help them to work together towards a shared objective.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
