Position SummaryThe Engagement Specialist is responsible for driving employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and communication programs onboard.
This role serves as a key cultural ambassador, ensuring that crew welfare initiatives are implemented effectively and that all team members feel supported, celebrated, and informed.
Working in collaboration with HR leadership, the Engagement Specialist facilitates activities, maintains communication platforms, delivers key training programs, and supports compliance with safety, HR, and audit standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCrew Welfare & WellnessLead all crew welfare initiatives, including planning and promotion of Fun Team activities.Manage the crew bicycle and barbershop programs, ensuring safety, compliance, and accessibility.Maintain and monitor all Fun Team resources and equipment, ensuring upkeep and brand consistency.Actively support employee wellness programs and promote a healthy onboard culture.Employee Recognition & EngagementOrganize and manage all recognition programs.Support HR leadership with engagement surveys, family meetings, and town halls.Coordinate teammate surveys, including new hire and experience feedback, and report on insights.Internal CommunicationMaintain branded communication boards and crew-facing publications in line with corporate standards.Ensure timely and accurate delivery of the Daily Compass and internal crew communications.Draft and support distribution of shipwide notices and HR communications in collaboration with the HR Director.Operational Support & ComplianceManage the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), ensuring systems, facilities, and libraries meet standards.Support shipboard operations by ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and MLC requirements.Prepare for audits and inspections, ensuring records and HR spaces meet compliance expectations.Manage cost efficiency within the HR department, ensuring optimal use of resources.Set up and break down crew events and functions in accordance with health and safety protocols.HR & Learning SupportActively support the onboarding of new crew, welcoming and integrating new team members.Plan and facilitate Behind the Fun tours, creating memorable guest experiences.Co-deliver regulatory training programs with the Learning & Development Manager.Deliver all required training independently in the absence of the Learning & Development Manager.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseExperience & BackgroundMinimum 1 year of experience in a high customer engagement or employee-facing role.Background in employee engagement, HR operations, or event management preferred.Experience facilitating meetings, events, or presentations to large groups is a strong asset.Education & CertificationsMinimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent required.Degree in Human Resources, HR Development, or similar field preferred.Certifications in coaching, facilitation, or event planning considered an advantage.Communication & Interpersonal SkillsStrong public speaking and presentation skills; able to speak confidently in group and one-on-one settings.Excellent business writing, active listening, and interpersonal communication skills.Friendly, clear, and assertive communicator with fluency in spoken and written English.Technical & Administrative SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate level or higher).
