Job Description
United Lisbon International School is seeking a dedicated School Counselor whose primary mission is to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. The counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and community organizations to identify and address barriers to student success, promote well-being, and guide students in developing lifelong learning and career readiness skills. This is a dynamic and impactful role that directly contributes to the growth and success of a diverse student population.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students' emotional, social, and behavioral well-being.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote resilience, executive functioning, and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to design academic interventions and monitor student progress.
- Guide students through college and career exploration, including applications and transition planning.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and positive school climate through preventative programs and conflict resolution.
- Coordinate with families and community organizations to connect students with external support services.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to data-driven decision-making and program reporting.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in school counseling or a related student support role.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency in handling sensitive issues with discretion and empathy.
- Knowledge of academic support systems, special education, and post-secondary planning.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office tools and student information systems.
- Data literacy for monitoring outcomes and informing practice.
- High emotional intelligence and adaptability.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and care.
