OverviewJoin to apply for theDoctorate Researcherrole atINESC TEC. Maritime Infrastructures The recruited researcher will carry out applied and fundamental research activities in the field of offshore structures hydrodynamics and technology applied to ocean-based energy generation. The work will include the numerical assessment and dynamic simulation of mooring systems, as well as the study of the hydrodynamics of offshore structures and ocean energy converters using specialised software. The researcher will also be responsible for analysing the behaviour of floating platforms, employing numerical simulation techniques and experimental analysis. The researcher will contribute to the implementation and preparation of innovation and technological development projects directly related to the offshore maritime industry. Duties will also include conducting metocean studies and analysing metoceanographic data and their application in the design and operation of structures, as well as the analysis and development of solutions for subsea structures, including submarine cables and other subsea equipment. QualificationsAcademic Qualifications PhD in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or related scientific fields, with a scientific and professional curriculum suitable for the duties to be performed, may apply. Experience in dynamic modelling of floating structures using software such as OrcaFlex or OrcaWave, in experimental hydrodynamic testing in wave tanks, in metocean analysis, and in Submarine Cable Engineering. Preference factorsPrevious experience in international research projects. Experience in collaboration and interaction with the Offshore Wind and marine renewable energy industry. Experimental skills in hydrodynamic testing in wave tanks, instrumentation, and calibration. Experience in metocean analysis applied to offshore wind and ocean energy projects. Experience in subsea cable engineering and route optimisation (subsea cable routing). Advanced use of offshore simulation and floating structure dynamics software, namely OrcaFlex and OrcaWave. Programming skills (Python, Matlab, R) applied to numerical modelling and data analysis.
