About The Job
The aim is to publish clear, timely, thought-provoking pieces on topics ranging from financial and economic forecasts to in-depth analysis of the economies under coverage and related political developments. As part of the Markets 360 expansion program, we are looking for bright and ambitious people to join our team in Portugal.
Your Main Activities Are
* Develop and maintain a suite of economic models to be used as key inputs to our view formation process and research, including forecasting, through:
o Reviewing academic research to identify new modelling approaches
o Maintaining existing libraries and developing new modules
o Running data analytics
o Exploring use of new data science techniques
o Testing new datasets (i.e., alternative data)
* Maintain and update models, including creating visual representations of outputs, compiling dashboards, presentations, and publications.
* Work collaboratively with other economists in the global economics team.
o Work on model infrastructure, while being a key input into a robust model validation process.
o Collaborate on thematic research projects, contributing to written research output.
* Opportunities to market views to internal and external clients.
* Assist in preparing presentations for client meetings, responding to client requests, and ad-hoc data analysis related to market/macro events.
* Contribute to economic forecasts assembly.
* Work independently on thematic projects on key economic topics.
Profile And Skills To Success
* Master's degree in Economics and Econometrics.
* Between 2 and 5 years of relevant professional experience in economics and/or quantitative fields.
* Good knowledge of Excel.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Knowledge of Python, Eviews, MATLAB, or R.
* Elementary understanding of financial market relationships/drivers and statistics, including econometrics.
* Strong interest in data analysis and solid analytical skills.
