Job DescriptionThe Head of Secondary is a visionary and strategic leader, responsible for the overall leadership, day-to-day management, and future direction of the Secondary School (Grades 6–12), encompassing Middle School, High School, and the IB programmes.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of Secondary plays a pivotal role in shaping a student-centered, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment.
This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Head of Primary, and the Head of Teaching and Learning to ensure alignment with the school's mission, values, and long-term goals.
The ideal candidate will lead with integrity, inspire excellence, and champion holistic development and wellbeing.
Key responsibilitiesChampion excellence in teaching, learning, and student agency.
Ensure high-quality implementation of the IB Diploma, IB CP, and the broader High School curriculum.
Promote inquiry-based pedagogy and integration of ATL and IB Learner Profile attributes.
Lead curriculum innovation, vertical alignment, and evidence-based instructional practices.
Use data to monitor academic progress and drive interventions.
Oversee curriculum audits and IB evaluations.
Ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the Secondary School.
Oversee staffing, scheduling, and academic calendar planning.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding and health & safety policies.
Lead internal quality assurance, including lesson observations and academic audits.
Manage risk assessments and support exam processes.
Provide inspirational leadership to Secondary staff.
Oversee professional growth through goal-setting, feedback, and development opportunities.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Support DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) practices and staff wellbeing.
Lead a strong pastoral care system supporting students' emotional and academic development.
Promote positive behaviour, restorative practices, and student voice.
Collaborate with support teams for inclusive practices and transitions.
Partner with the university counselling team to align academic pathways with future goals.
Act as an ambassador for the Secondary School.
Build relationships with parents, alumni, and external partners.
Represent the school in community events and international forums.
Promote parent engagement and student-led community initiatives.
Support the Executive Director in strategic planning and Board reporting.
Lead budget planning and resource allocation for the Secondary School.
Ensure Secondary initiatives align with whole-school priorities and accreditation processes.
QualificationsDeep understanding of international education systems, especially the IB Diploma Programme and High School frameworks.
Proven experience leading learning and staff development in a diverse international setting.
Skilled in data analysis, curriculum design, educational technology, and quality assurance.
Strong understanding of school management systems (e.G., ManageBac), safeguarding, and accreditation.
Experience with crisis management and school improvement processes.
High personal integrity and ethical leadership.
Visionary, strategic thinker, and effective change agent.
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
