Job Description
As a senior risk manager, you will lead the development of risk management strategies for financial institutions. Your expertise in technical knowledge and client-facing experience will enable you to provide exceptional risk services that meet our clients' needs.
With your leadership skills, you will oversee a team of professionals responsible for providing integrated risk management solutions. Your focus will be on ensuring high-quality results while maintaining a high level of efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing risk management strategies for financial institutions;
* Overseeing the development of governance models, policies, procedures, and processes in line with local, national, and global requirements;
* Evaluating and interpreting data from a risk management perspective;
* Supporting the implementation of regulatory requirements and guidelines;
* Developing Probability of Default and Loss Given Default risk rating models for commercial and corporate borrowers;
* Developing time series stress test models to support capital planning initiatives;
* Performing data manipulation and analysis using SQL, SAS, and other tools and presenting results and recommendations to Credit Risk Management;
* Conducting impairment model analysis;
* Participating in regulatory risk assessment exercises and independent reviews of applicable prudential frameworks;
* Identifying risk and improvement opportunities;
* Understanding and adhering to clients' risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with their risk appetite;
* Escalating risk-related issues to management when necessary;
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Academic degree in Management, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar fields;
* At least 3-4 years of experience in risk management analysis and projects, mainly in the banking sector; background in consulting environments is highly valued;
* Knowledge of local and international banking regulations affecting models and rating systems;
* Relevant experience in end-to-end statistical model development or validation, including credit IRB, IFRS 9 provisioning, and stress testing;
* Knowledge and previous experience of PD/LGD/EAD modeling or validation;
* Good understanding of risk model development and validation techniques;
* Industry-wide modeling practices and trends understanding;
* Proficiency in SAS, SQL, R, VBA, and other programming languages;
* Ability to work in multicultural projects and environments;
* Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both Portuguese and English;
* Availability to work in Portugal and abroad;
