We are looking for a Head of Collections to join us at this pivotal moment, share our vision, and help shape the future of European banking.
What you will be doing?
The Head of Collections is a strategic leadership role responsible for the entire credit recovery lifecycle. You will lead the strategy to minimize the Cost of Risk and Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) while ensuring a customer-centric approach that complies with the PARI/PERSI regulatory frameworks.
What you will be doing?
Collection Strategy & Governance:
* Design and execute end-to-end recovery strategies for Retail and SME portfolios, from early-stage delinquency to litigation and write-offs.
Regulatory Ownership (PARI/PERSI):
* Act as the final authority on PARI and PERSI compliance, ensuring 100% adherence to legal deadlines and communication protocols to mitigate regulatory risks and BdP sanctions.
* Manage the relationship with the Bank of Portugal during audits or conduct reviews related to credit recovery.
Portfolio Management & NPL Sales:
* Lead the design and implementation of restructuring frameworks for both Retail and SME portfolios, ensuring that workout solutions are financially viable, sustainable, and aligned with IFRS 9 impairment goals.
* Evaluate and execute NPL portfolio sales, managing the due diligence process and relationship with debt buyers.
Skills you should have
* Experience: 10+ years in Collections within the Portuguese financial sector, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
* Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation skills, strategic vision, and the ability to lead high-pressure teams.
* Communication skills: Clear and structured verbal and written communication.
* Time management: Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
* Team player: Strong collaboration skills and willingness to work across functions and geographies.
* Regulatory knowledge: Understanding of PARI-PERSI regulations and compliance standards.
* Language skills: Must be able to communicate well in English
* Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field (nice to have).
