Cell Culture Research Technician_Botton-Champalimaud (CCRT_BCPCC)
Seeking a dedicated Cell Culture Research Technician to join our dynamic team to advance medical knowledge and make a positive impact on healthcare.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main duties will include
1. Specimen processing for organoid culture generation;
2. Organoids and cell lines maintenance including documentation (e.g., digital images) and preparation of reports;
3. Cryopreservation and quality control, including mycoplasma testing;
4. Operate and maintain tissue culture equipment with precision and attention to detail;
5. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised work environment;
6. Creation and management of procedures and quality system documentation within a laboratory management system;
7. Collaborate with researchers to execute experiments and contribute to the development of cell culture-based research projects.

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or technical field (e.g., biology, biomedical sciences);
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and scientific methodologies;

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team;
- Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a secure laboratory environment;
- Familiarity with cell culture techniques and procedures is required;
- Experience in following Standard Operating Procedures and following experimental workflows accurately and efficiently;
- General IT proficiency with an ability to generate basic reports;
- Good communication and organisational skills;
- Fluency in English and Portuguese languages.
- Previous experience in deriving and maintaining patient-derived organoids is preferred but not mandatory;
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP and/or IVDR) in academic research or industry setting;
- Experience with document management systems.

The Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is a state-of-the-art facility comprising research laboratories, a day hospital, a surgical centre, as well as inpatient and intensive care facilities. The mission of the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is to develop new and effective treatments for pancreatic cancer. To accomplish this goal a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, clinicians, clinical trials specialists, cancer scientists, genomics experts and computational biologists work together to deliver world-leading outcomes for patients with pancreatic cancer.
The Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is also closely integrated with the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown. Members of the Champalimaud Research Programme (CR) and the Champalimaud Clinical Centre (CCC), work together to investigate fundamental biological processes and search for effective solutions to alleviate the burden of oncological, neurological and mental diseases, while providing state-of-the-art care to the patients of the CCC. With 479 members, including group leaders, postdocs, PhD and MSc students, research technicians and highly specialised research staff, the CR community encompasses 39 nationalities. Within the Lisbon Ocean Campus, CF will expand its research, technological development, innovation, and clinical practice in the digital therapeutics field.
