We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead Backend (Java) to join a high-impact project, working with large-scale distributed systems in a cloud-native environment. This role combines strong hands-on technical leadership with people and stakeholder management .
Candidates must be living in Portugal.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and guide backend engineering teams;
* Drive architectural and system design decisions;
* Develop and maintain backend services using Java & Spring Boot;
* Ensure scalability, reliability, and code quality;
* Mentor and support team members' technical growth;
* Manage technical planning, dependencies, and risks;
* Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and directors;
* Balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities;
* Work in a remote/hybrid, international environment.
Required Skills:
* 5+ years of backend development experience;
* Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot;
* Experience with distributed systems and microservices;
* Solid knowledge of REST APIs and SQL;
* Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
* Cloud experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP);
* Strong system design skills (Amazon/Google-level rigor);
* Proven technical leadership experience;
* English fluency (minimum B2).
