Admission Requirements: 3.1. Students enrolled in master. 3.2. Bachelor's Degree in: Chemistry4. Other Requirements: We are looking for candidates with self-initiative and commitment to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should possess a Bachelor degree in Chemistry with a minimum grade of 13 out of 20. Good oral and written English communication skills are required. Experience in materials synthesis and characterization is valorized. The proof of enrolment must be made available until the contract is awarded, and the candidate may attach a declaration of honor to confirm that they meet the requirements for enrolment in a Master course.5. Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, as well as nos. 1 and 2 of article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology.6. Work plan: CharM aims to address the challenges in biogas upgrading by developing innovative and sustainable dual functional materials (DFM) for efficient CO2 conversion to CH4 through designing and testing the future generation of CO2 sorbents/catalysts. This can be attained through the rational design of novel metal‐coordinated porous carbon materials and by building an atomic‐level understanding of interactions at the gas‐solid interface governing thermodynamic/kinetic phenomena at adsorbent/catalytic surfaces.Task 1. Develop synthetic strategies to produce novel DFM to induce the proper features to selectively adsorb CO2 and convert it into CH4. Characterize the DFM microstructure by standard techniques: STEM-EDS, XRD, XPS, EA, FTIR, TGA, operando TGA-IR/MS, and -196 °C N2 adsorption‐desorption isotherms.Task 2. Evaluate the DFMs performance for CO2/CH4 adsorption‐separation.Task 3. Explore novel catalytic materials towards sustainable electrosynthesis of value‐added fuels and chemicals from CO2 feedstocks.Task 4. Optimize and prepare highly porous DFMs‐based 3D printed structures prepared through additive manufacturing to reduce the pressure drop.Task 5. Development of outreach activities related to the project theme. This interdisciplinary approach bridges materials science and engineering, electrocatalysis and advanced characterization, offering a novel perspective on gas‐solid interactions.7. Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Grant Holder, as amended by Decree‐Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th; Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation); Decree‐Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).8. Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials / Chemistry Department of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Mirtha Lourenço and co‐supervised by Doctor Nuno Gonçalves and Doctor Juqin Zeng.
