Adecco is hiring a Head of Legal & Compliance for Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe Regional Offices Europe & Americas position based in Lisbon. The role serves as an in-house legal and compliance counsel for the Plant and the Regional Office, supporting local management in managing and overseeing legal matters and compliance activities for the local entity and the broader regional coverage. The position focuses on protecting the interests of the company, enabling the smooth execution of business operations, and managing legal risks while ensuring compliance with internal policies as well as local and international laws and regulations. Key subject areas include Anti-Trust, Anti-Corruption, Sanctions Compliance, Export Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Data Protection, Product Compliance, Human Rights Compliance, and Artificial Intelligence. The role includes management of external legal counsel where required and close cooperation with headquarters Legal & Compliance functions.

What You Will Do?
•
Support local management in assuming and executing responsibility to implement and maintain effective Legal & Compliance structures at unit level in accordance with corporate requirements and applicable local laws and regulations.
•
Ensure close communication and alignment with all relevant stakeholders, obtaining support and collaboration from management and employees through ongoing legal and compliance interactions.
•
Provide legal advice to management and employees, including coordination and management of external law firms where necessary for specialized legal support and representation.
•
Ensure corporate governance and ongoing legal business support, including contract reviews, M&A transactions, regulatory matters, litigations, and other legal disputes requiring structured legal oversight.
•
Represent the company in legal matters vis-à-vis third parties and authorities, and comply with central reporting requirements for legal issues and developments.
•
Maintain and further develop an effective and efficient local Legal & Compliance Management system in accordance with corporate requirements and local laws and regulations, including process improvements.
•
Manage an effective Compliance Management System (CMS) according to group and local regulations, with particular focus on Business Partner Integrity Management and key risk fields such as Anti-Corruption.
•
Establish clear compliance standards and processes aligned with corporate policies and the Code of Conduct, and monitor local legislation trends and market-related compliance risks to define mitigation measures with the Senior Compliance Officer (SCO).
•
Support the Compliance Risk Management and Monitoring (CRM&M) process, secure governance structures for compliance, and report compliance matters to the Senior Compliance Officer (SCO) in a timely and structured manner.
•
Conduct ongoing, effective communications and training on relevant legal and compliance requirements for internal stakeholders and external business partners, promoting a culture of integrity and sustainable excellence.
Your Skills
•
Legal and/or Compliance professional background, ideally with working experience in legal and/or compliance in a law firm or with equivalent corporate experience, supported by a Degree in law or related area.
•
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, with fluent spoken and written English, and local language capability considered a plus for effective stakeholder communication.
•
Self-motivated and responsible personality with a high level of integrity and professionalism, demonstrating reliability in handling sensitive legal and compliance matters.
•
Cross-cultural experience and interest, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment focused on Japan and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders from other countries.
•
Management and leadership skills with analytical thinking and solution-oriented mindset, combined with strong project management capability for legal and compliance initiatives.
•
Ability to conduct didactical oriented trainings with intercultural understanding and knowledge, ensuring effective transfer of legal and compliance requirements to diverse audiences.
•
Quick and strong learning ability, enabling efficient understanding of complex regulatory frameworks, internal policies, and evolving legal and compliance expectations.
•
Appropriate knowledge in applicable international and local laws and legislations, in particular Anti-corruption, Antitrust, Anti-Money Laundering, Data Protection, Distribution Law, Export Control, Human Rights, Product Law, international Sanctions, and generally accepted CMS framework agreements.
•
Understanding of compliance and knowledge of compliance management processes, including the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a Compliance Management System (CMS).
•
Application-oriented IT system knowledge and affinity, with strong interest in the commercial vehicle business and its specific legal and compliance risk landscape.
