We are trusted for our track record of delivery and respected for our commercial thinking and have earned our place at the table.**Platform Engineering at Hiscox**Our Platform Engineers are knowledgeable sources of expertise on designing, deploying and managing cloud resources based on automation through code. Engineers relish being involved in onboarding new technologies and tools and providing ongoing technical ownership of the wider Hiscox cloud estate. They’re passionate about sharing knowledge and best practice through standards, repeatable solutions and guidelines to ensure we achieve maximum value from our investment in technology. A mindset of continual improvement in quality and security is crucial to this role.## **Key Responsibilities*** Create, deliver, maintain and support components of the UK cloud platforms. Ensure they meet technical standards, remain securely configured and capture appropriate metrics.* Make significant contributions to UK infrastructure as code and CICD pipeline repositories.* Contribute to our technical standards, solutions and design documentation.* Discover and remove technical debt as part of a continuous improvement work ethic.* Work with the Platform Lead to contribute to the roadmap of the UK cloud platforms.* Continually question and optimise the governance processes ensuring that deployed services meet quality and security benchmarks.* Monitor market trends and best practices relating to DevOps, CI/CD and use of cloud services.* Offer direction and expertise to the wider UK IT community.## **Key Skills*** Demonstrable in-depth technical knowledge of the Azure cloud platform. Experience with compute, storage and network services is essential.* Knowledge of the below Azure services is beneficial:* API Management* App Service* Entra ID* App Gateway / Front Door* Messaging Services (Event Hub / Service Bus)* AI services* Proficient in designing, deploying and maintaining Azure infrastructure using version-controlled infrastructure as code deployments. Terraform experience would be beneficial.* Expertise in writing and troubleshooting CICD pipelines defined in source control.
