OLX is a market leader in the Used Car Parts category and seeks a highly experienced and strategic Category Director to lead and accelerate our growth in this segment. This role will involve managing a diverse portfolio of car parts products, developing category growth strategies, and overseeing the segment's overall performance.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in automotive products, market dynamics, and e-commerce/classifieds, with a passion for driving change and creating a seamless experience for our customers.
This role carries full P&L responsibility for the category and requires close cross-functional collaboration with product, marketing, sales, and BI teams. The Category Director will focus on business development and ensure an in-depth understanding of internal capabilities and external market dynamics. As the ultimate voice of the Car Parts category within OLX, this individual will manage a team of Category Managers, Go-to-Market managers, and Business Analysts.
The role will report to Sylvie de Wever, General Manager OLX General Classifieds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* P&L Management: Full responsibility for the Car Parts category P&L, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded. Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability.
* Strategic Leadership: Create and execute growth strategies for the Category, considering internal capabilities and external market trends. Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities and threats, and adjust strategies accordingly.
* Product Assortment Management: Curate and enhance the product offering for car parts, collaborating with suppliers, sellers, and internal teams to ensure a competitive and comprehensive assortment.
* Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals, fostering a high-performance culture. Set clear objectives and performance metrics, and provide regular feedback and support.
* Supplier & Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and other key partners to ensure and grow product availability on OLX.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, sales, marketing and BI teams to develop a comprehensive strategy for the Category, incorporating input and support from all relevant functions. Ensure seamless communication and cooperation across departments to drive category success.
* Market Insights: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Car Parts category market within the classifieds sector. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform strategic decisions.
* Voice of the Category: Act as the category's ultimate advocate within OLX, representing its interests and needs at all organizational levels. Communicate the category's vision, strategy, and performance to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
* Voice of the Customer: Build best-in-class customer experience.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Proven experience in a senior leadership role in the marketplace/classifieds/e-commerce/retail, or automotive industries, with a strong track record of leading and growing categories.
* Deep knowledge of auto parts, automotive aftermarket products, and the broader automotive ecosystem.
* Proven experience in category management, product assortment, and vendor negotiations.
* Experience in digital marketing, customer acquisition, and retention strategies.
* Strong financial acumen with a track record of managing P&L responsibilities.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans while also being detail-oriented and hands-on.
* Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions and deliver measurable outcomes.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on results.
* University degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
