We are looking for an experienced Industrial Automation Engineer to join a large-scale refinery environment, supporting critical automation and electrical control systems. This role focuses on the design, implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of complex industrial automation systems, including SCADA, PLCs, and power management systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in high-impact modernization projects, including SCADA revamping and the upgrade of critical Load Shedding systems, ensuring safe, stable, and reliable plant operations. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and maintain industrial automation systems within a refinery environment Work with SCADA systems (e.g., Sitech) managing large volumes of real-time data (~300,000 variables) Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Schneider Quantum / M580) Support the upgrade and optimization of Load Shedding systems (critical for plant stability) Integrate field equipment (electrical panels, protection relays, sensors) into SCADA and control systems Support Power Monitoring Systems (e.g., Schneider Power Monitoring Expert) Perform commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and on-site troubleshooting Ensure proper implementation of redundant architectures (Hot Standby systems) Configure and manage industrial communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 104) Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders Ensure strict compliance with industrial safety standards and procedures Participate in system migrations and infrastructure upgrades (servers, control systems) Prepare and maintain technical documentation (I/O lists, electrical schematics, network diagrams) Support project execution and coordination activities Requirements Strong experience in industrial automation within heavy industries (refinery, chemical, energy) Hands-on experience with Schneider PLCs (Quantum, M580), including Hot Standby configurations Solid knowledge of SCADA systems and distributed control architectures Experience with Load Shedding / Power Management Systems is highly desirable Good understanding of electrical systems (medium and low voltage) Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 104) Knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet, fiber optics, industrial architectures) Ability to read and design electrical schematics (AutoCAD, EPLAN, SEE Electrical or similar) Basic understanding of OT cybersecurity concepts Proven hands‐on experience in fieldwork, commissioning, and troubleshooting Degree in Automation, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar) Experience working in industrial environments (engineering + field exposure) Willingness to work on‐site in a refinery and travel if required Location: Sines Schedule: full time (9 am to 6 pm) Collaboration: freelancer project via Progressive #J-18808-Ljbffr
