Your new Role
This role will act as the Database Team Lead within the Supply Chain Technology function, leading the enterprise data platform engineering capability across Europe.
The Database Team Lead works closely with Platform Engineering, SRE, Application Development, Security, and Service Operations to ensure that data platforms reliably support business services without becoming performance or availability bottlenecks.
The Database Team Lead will:
* Define and govern enterprise database architecture standards (PaaS, IaaS, managed services);
* Own HA/DR strategies, including replication, failover, backup, and RPO/RTO definitions;
* Lead database performance optimization and capacity planning initiatives;
* Establish automation frameworks for provisioning, backup, and recovery;
* Ensure database security, patching, and compliance standards are enforced;
* Support major incident investigations related to data‐layer failures;
* Collaborate with Application Development on schema design and performance tuning;
* Develop and mentor Database Engineers and DBAs.
A typical day will include reviewing performance and capacity posture, refining HA/DR strategies, driving automation and governance, collaborating with development teams on schema efficiency, ensuring compliance with security standards, and participating in the response to major database‐related incidents.
What you will need to succeed
As a Database Team Lead, you will need:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience;
* +8 years of experience in Database Engineering or DBA roles;
* +3 years of leadership or team coordination experience;
* Experience designing HA/DR and backup/recovery architectures;
* Experience managing enterprise‐scale Database environments;
* Experience automating provisioning and maintenance;
* Strong knowledge of hybrid Cloud Database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.);
* Deep expertise in relational and/or NoSQL platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.);
* Advanced performance tuning and query optimization skills;
* Strong understanding of database security and encryption practices;
* Solid understanding of distributed systems and application database interaction;
* Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts;
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills;
* Excellent communication skills – Fluency in English.
