Offer Description
It is hereby made public that a call for applications is open, for a period of 30 working days from the fifth working day following the publication of this Notice on the university’s official website, for the position of Assistant Professor, full-time, in the disciplinary area of Psychology, sub-disciplinary area of Work and Organizational Psychology.
The opening of this competition was authorised by COFAC – Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural, C.R.L., the founding body of Lusófona University, under its authority to hire teaching and research staff, pursuant to Article 30(1)(i) of Law No. 62/2007, of 10 September, and Article 7(5)(i) of the Statutes of Lusófona University.
One position is available under this call.
The selected candidate shall undertake:
i) Teach on campus and online as necessary in the areas of Psychology and related areas;
ii) Engage in academic activities at the School of Psychology and Life Sciences;
iii) Participate in professional and community outreach initiatives;
iv) Provide academic and career guidance to students;
v) Conduct advanced and internationally-oriented research in HEI-Lab within the thematic scope of the Research Unit;
vi) Contribute to the internationalisation of School of Psychology and Life Sciences and HEI-Lab
vii) Lead and participate in funding applications;
viii) Collaborate in scientific research training activities included in the scientific strategy of the School of Psychology and Life Sciences and HEI-Lab
The contractual conditions are as follows:
i) Full-time career integration;
ii) Open-ended contract;
iii) Gross monthly base salary to be determined in accordance with qualifications and professional experience, ranging from 2.800,00€ to 3.200,00€;
iv) Anticipated start date: 1 September 2025;
v) Tuition fee reductions for the employee and immediate family members, in accordance with applicable internal regulations;

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
Applicants must:
i) Hold a PhD in Psychology;
ii) Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team;
iii) Possess oral and written proficiency in both Portuguese and English (minimum level B2);
iv) Exhibit strong pedagogical skills, particularly in the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes;
v) - Have participated, preferably, in national and/or international R&D, extension and community liaison activities related to the mentioned areas;
vi)- Preferably, having been the author of relevant works published in international peer-reviewed journals (CORE A or A* for conferences, journals and newspapers indexed in SciMago); of which at least 5 articles must have been published in the last 5 years in Q1 or Q2 journals (WoS or Scopus) and of these 5, at least 3 as first author.
vii)- Preferably have previous experience in coordinating or participating in research projects on the proposed topics in the last 5 years in the areas of leadership, social responsibility and organizational sustainability, ethical decision-making, engagement and job satisfaction. viii) – Preferably, have prior experience as a lecturer and course coordinator in curricular units in the field of Work and Organizational Psychology, at both undergraduate (1st cycle) and master's (2nd cycle) levels of university degrees.

The main research areas are:Work and Organizational Psychology.

iv) Personal data and contacts - with their respective email addresses - of at least two academic references who can attest to the curriculum presented;
v) Descriptive statement of career development, with emphasis on previous and future scientific and technological production;
vi) Other documents considered relevant by the candidate and which, from his/her perspective, are pertinent to attest and evaluate his/her scientific and professional trajectory.
Selection process
Selection Method
1 Applications admitted to the competition shall be assessed based on the quality, relevance, and suitability of the academic and teaching curriculum, the scientific curriculum, research output, and research experience aligned with the strategic objectives of theSchool of Psychology and Life Sciencesand the HEI-Lab, as well as their contribution to the generation of new knowledge connected to the academic communities of theSchool of Psychology and Life Sciences and HEI-Lab. The professional experience of the candidates and the degree of alignment with the duties associated with the position will also be taken into account.
2 In the selection process, the panel shall assess the following components on a scale of 0 to 100:
i) The candidate's scientific career, giving particular relevance to scientific work carried out or published in the last 5 years in areas related to the activity that is the object of the contract (up to 45% of the evaluation);
ii) The candidate's professional experience, with particular emphasis on teaching activities carried out in the last 5 years, carried out in areas related to the activity subject to the contract (up to 45% of the assessment);
iii) Cover letter in English (10% of the assessment), to assess the candidate's motivation and interest in the activities to be developed (5% of the assessment) and proficiency in English (5% of the assessment);
3 If the panel chooses to conduct an interview with the candidates, which is exclusively intended to clarify aspects related to the results of their research or teaching (corresponding to a maximum of 10% of the total evaluation), up to 5 candidates will be considered from among those who obtained the highest score; In any case, only evaluations that obtain a score higher than 60% will be considered.
1 C he Selection Panel shall convene and, after evaluating the candidates, shall deliberate, within a maximum of fifteen (15) working days from the first working day following the deadline for submission of applications, on the final ranking of the candidates, in a duly ordered list.
2 Minutes shall be drawn up for each meeting of the Selection Panel, including the matters discussed, the votes of each member, and the reasoning behind the decisions taken.
3 The Selection Panel shall submit the final decision to the Rector for ratification no later than the fifth working day following the expiry of the period referred to in IX-1, and shall notify the candidates, who may, if they so wish, submit a written statement to the Rector within ten (10) working days. The Rector shall issue a decision within the same period.
Final Approval
The Rector shall ratify the final classification of the competition within ten (10) working days from the first working day following the deadline for the submission of statements.

The appointed academic staff member shall exercise the rights and fulfil the duties established under the applicable internal regulations of Universidade Lusófona.
